Queen Elisabeth Music Competition: Since its foundation, the Queen Elisabeth Competition is considered the world over to be one of the most prestigious competitions. It features competitions for violin, piano, composition and singingon a rotating basis. The 2007 edition is devoted to the piano.
Over the past 50 years laureates of the competition include Leon Fleisher, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gidon Kremer, Vadim Repin, Mitsuko Uchida and, most recently, Nikolaj Znaider and Marie-Nicole Lemieux.

Tintin Goes to Hollywood: Fans of the boy reporter will finally see their wish come true. None other than Steven Spielberg and his company DreamWorks have committed to produce a movie about one of the many adventures of Tintin and his dog Snowy.

90th Anniversary of the Battle of Passendale: Ceremonies will be held throughout 2007 to commemorate the different phases of the offensive.
