Europalia.europe

Center of Fine Arts (BOZAR) and other locations in Brussels

October 3, 2007 through February 3, 2008

This year Europalia is playing host to no fewer than 27 countries as it celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the European Union. The four-month Europalia.europa festival staged in Brussels, and in the surrounding areas will present the cultures of Europe and its 27 member states.

Europalia is presenting great European artists and artworks that have left their mark on two thousand years of history of art. As always, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels (BOZAR) will be the hub for the event, staging a prestigious exhibition entitled ‘The Grand Atelier - European art routes (5th – 18th centuries)’, which will run from October 5, 2007 to February 3, 2008. The exhibition sheds light on the European history of art by means of exceptional pieces, and includes some 350 works from more than a hundred European collections.

Other cultural institutions are also planning an exciting programme of exhibitions, music, theatre, dance, films and literature. October 11th to December 9th brings the Agorafolly artists’ trail. Twenty-seven young artists – one from each of the 27 member states – is allocated a square in Brussels, where he or she will create a European artwork of the future.

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to admire artistic highlights from every corner of Europe right in the heart of Brussels. Discover what unites Europe culturally as well as what makes each of the 27 countries so unique. For a detailed program visit the Europalia website.
