Diamond Museum - Antwerp
Daily
life would be unthinkable without diamonds as
a symbol for anything of great value.
When we use words
such as "sparkling" and "brilliant",
we are merely comparing the outstanding qualities
of an achievement with the most durable material
in the world: diamond!
Antwerp has been
well known for centuries as a world centre for
this sparkling stone. This is why the largest
Diamond Museum in the world is based here.
A visit to the museum is a sensual experience
of sound and vision that immerses the visitor
into the fascinating diamond world, through the
production process of diamonds, from the origin,
the exploitation, processing and manufacturing
methods,
to the end result of ornamental or industrial
diamonds. In the laboratory the specific qualities
of diamonds, such as color, hardness, refraction
of light, thermal and
electric conductivity, can
be tested.
The Diamond Museum"s magnificent collection
of diamond jewellery and illustrious temporary
exhibitions in the last treasure chamber, provide
a powerful finale to the visit.
