Visitors
to the Fiery City of Liege often comment
how much it reminds them of Rome.
This
is not surprising considering that the city is
shaped by hills, criss-crossed by stairs and rising
alleyways. Busy metropolis, prestigious arts center
– Liege is full of contrasts.
On
the terraces of the cafes, in the traditionally
styled taverns, in the student bistros, everywhere
the atmosphere is convivial and engaging. It is
the center of Liege, and particularly in the neighboring
streets and the district of Le Carre,
that shopoholics
will find everything to meet their requirements.
The city center is to a large extent a pedestrian
area, so you can go window shopping freely without
cars. A detour via Passage Lemonnier, the first
covered passage in Belgium, is a Liege must.
Night
owls will appreciate its discotheques, cafes and
concerts. Night life happens in Le Carre
in central Liege and on an island in the center
of the river called Outre Meuse. There
you will find piano bars, taverns and cafes packed
with feisty Liegois. Liege is also famous for
its adult puppet theater and is home to the legendary
Tchantches. Gourmands enjoy Liege’s culinary
range from new cuisine to the classical table,
not forgetting the thousand and one regional specialties
that blend French refinement with local flavors.

offer, see Liege Highlights
