Brussels Joins the Nuit Blanche Network

All-Night Artistic Event October 6, 2012

Brussels will once again be part of the action as the 2012 Nuit Blanche event comes to town on October 6, 2012, now in its 10th year. This cultural and artistic project invites visitors to stay up for a night filled with unusual and creative contemporary arts in a festive atmosphere that promotes discovery and wonder. Nuit Blanche encourages city dwellers to rediscover their urban environments. Europe's capital joined the likes of Amsterdam and other major European capital cities by becoming a member of the Nuit Blanche Network in 2011.

The Brussels Nuit Blanche places an emphasis on artists from Brussels and Belgium, giving them a large and diverse audience to experience a number of social, sport and cultural events and projects. In additional to the visual art, music, installations, performers and fairground arts that are on display in various public spaces, last year, visitors also got to test their hand as an artist during a number of workshops over the course of the night.

Interactivity and a blurring of borders between reality and fantasy will be at the heart of the festivities' 10th edition, with an emphasis on international projects from all over Europe. There will be many special activities including a loudspeaker orchestra, share the memories of the Ursuline's residents or meet an army of zobies walking on the Boulevard du Regent.

Making their debut this year, the Pictures Blowers will escort the attendees with visual disabilities to describe, all the differents activities as it happens. The White Nights website will be designed to the visually impaired.
