IT'S THE SEASON FOR OUR FABULOUS CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN BRUSSELS : Every winter from November 27 until January 03, the heart of Brussels beats to the rhythm of Winter Wonders. During this period, Brussels hotels are offering special packages which included the Winter Wonders Kit: The Hotel Aris, next to the Grand Place, is offering the rate of 89 €. The Marriott Brussels, next to the famous rue Dansaert, has a package from 124 € which includes buffet breakfast & welcome drink. The Bristol Stephanie, in the shopping district of Avenue Louise, presents a Xmas package from 125 € with breakfast, welcome drink & free access to the sauna and fitness center. Hotel Bloom, close to the Botanical garden, offers a double room from 125 €. The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, in the center of Brussels, has winter fun rates from 139 € with breakfast and the Hotel Dolce La Hulpe is offering free access to the sauna and the fitness centre & free transportation to the Christmas market, also for 139 €. IN SOUTHERN BELGIUM: Every town in French-speaking Wallonia host its own Christmas Market. The central square of Liège and the neighbouring Place du Marché stage one of Belgium's largest Christmas markets , attracting more than 1 million visitors with 190 wooden chalets full of tempting goodies, sweets and original hand crafted products and presents. The Hôtel Husa de la Couronne has a special 75 € package with breakfast and city pass included. Durbuy, known as the Smallest town on earth, is also one of the prettiest, dating back to the 17th century. While visiting the Christmas market in December, stay at the Hotel Jean de Boheme, with rooms starting at 95 €. At the very heart of Mons, a historical city, celebrate Christmas with its enchanting heart-shaped skating rink. JANUARY BRINGS THE ANNUAL ANTIQUES AND FINE ART FAIR: From 22nd to 31st January 2010, The Brussels Antiques and Fine Arts Fair (BRAFA), Belgium's oldest and most important antiques fair, will be pulling out all the stops to welcome around 150 of the top Belgian and foreign art dealers to the historic Tour & Taxis building in Central Brussels. As they wander along aisles designed to emanate forest paths, visitors will be able to admire a wide variety of rare and fascinating objects covering curiosities, rare books and exquisite antique furniture as well as enjoying an outstanding exhibition of the treasures of the Museums of the City of Liège. The Dominican Hotel, next to the theatre la Monnaie, presents a rate from 124 € with full breakfast, tax & service included. The Plaza Hotel, built in 1930 in the center of Brussels, will have the rate from 140 € with buffet breakfast included. The Hotel Amigo, a Rocco Forte Collection Hotel located in the very heart of Brussels, will offer preferred rates from 179 €. |

LAND OF CARNIVALS : Centuries of tradition make for great festivals. Belgium is home to hundreds of festivals, pageants and carnivals throughout the year. The Carnival of Binche tradition is one of most ancient and representative of Southern Belgium. Its famous " Gille" has been fascinating people all over the world. The Carnival was recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity. This year the Carnival will take place on February 14 to 16, 2010 with a parade with more than 900 Gilles on Mardi Gras. During the same month, Malmedy will have is own Carnival. While the four Thursdays preceding Mardi gras see numerous balls and parades, when Saturday "Gras" comes, the Carnival de Malmedy will officially opened. In Stavelot, Carnival of the Blancs- Moussis will be on March 13 to 15, 2010. The "Blanc Moussi", which means "clad in white", is particularly symbolic of this traditional Carnival. |

2010 : BELGIUM THE PLACE TO BE : The long awaited Magritte Museum opened its doors. Located in the center of Brussels, the museum brings together more than 150 works by the world famous surrealist painter. A new museum dedicated to Herge, the father of Tintin, located outside Brussels in Louvain-la-Neuve, opened to the delight of all his fans. On August, 13 to 15, 2010, in Brussels, do not missed the famous Carpet of Flowers in the center of the Grand Place. Waterloo (20mn from Brussels) will celebrated the 195 anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo on June 18 to 20, 2010 with the reenactment of the Battle with more than 1200 participants. Liege's Grand Curtius Museum, a museum of archaeology and decorative arts, including the famous Arms Museum (created in 1885) has reopened after a intensive redevelopment; Liege is easy to access thanks to the new train station designed by Santiago Calatrava (1 hour from Brussels). |
