Europalia International : the largest cultural festival in Europe!
Europalia will celebrate its 40th anniversary by inviting a truly fascinating guest: China. Europalia is one of the leading arts festivals in Europe and each edition attracts more than one million visitors. During four months, Belgium and its neighbouring regions will celebrate the diversity of Chinese culture by hosting hundreds of breathtaking events.
About 50 exhibitions and 400 events will be an apportunity to discover the richness of imperial rites, the diversity along the Silk Road, the art of Chinese calligraphy, contemporary masterpieces, the great schools of opera, musical traditions, breathtaking acrobatics, and other wonders of a culture torn between tradition and modernity.
In the greatest museums and cultural venues, Europalia International will unveil the most authentic and artistic elements of this amazing and mysterious civilisation.

Eternal China : The focus in this theme is put on the splendour of the tangible and intangible Chinese heritage that has been a constant value throughout the centuries.
Contemporary China : The focal point of this section is The State of Things: Brussels/Beijing, at the Centre for Fine Arts. The world-known artists AI Weiwei and Luc Tuymans designed this exhibition in collaboration with FAN Di'An, director of the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) and Philippe Pirotte, director of the Kunsthalle Bern.
Colourful China : This theme about traditions and popular culture, will make the public acquainted with the diversity of the Chinese Culture.
China and the rest of the world : Europalia does not only want to highlight the historical links between China and the rest of the world, but also aims to stimulate new artistic collaborations

Enter the fascinating world of tea and discover the richness and diversity of this age-old art of living, which is one of the pillars of Chinese culture. Discover the subtlety of a tea ceremony, enjoy Chinese typical music, taste genuine eastern cuisine, learn some tai-chi moves or simply come and have a drink with friends in a unique venue. The Dynasty building in the Mont des Arts - exceptionally open to the public on the occasion of europalia.china - will be converted into a Tea House to immerse you into a fantastic Chinese atmosphere.
