EUROPALIA'S NEXT STOP: BRAZIL

October 4, 2011 through January 15, 2012

Europalia International: Europe's largest cultural festival in Brussels!

The 23rd edition of Europalia takes you to Brazil, from October 4, 2011 through January 15, 2012! Modern and forward-looking, this country has managed to draw upon its origins and the mosaic of its people. An entire world blends together in this country: from the heirs of European settlers to the Amazon Indians, from the Afro-Brazilians, to immigrants from Japan, Lebanon, Italy, China, Germany... Experience Brazil's rythms, colors, heritage and contemporary art. Join us as we discover Brazil's mix of identites and cultures at over 200 venues in Belgium.

A team of innovative Brazilian curators are working to set up some twenty exhibitions charting the fascinating history of Brazilian art, from the first inhabitants of Brazil up to contemporary and future upcoming talents. For the disciplines of music, dance and theatre, europalia.brasil will focus primarily on the contemporary art scene, while evoking the traditional roots. Through various mini-festivals, conferences, workshops and residencies, the film and literature programmes will highlight this country's history and present.

The club.brasil, located on the Mont des Arts, will be the epicentre of the festival. It will host the information point of the festival, as well as a shop, a restaurant, a bar and a venue for a programme of Brazilian performances and workshops.

Europalia is one of the leading arts festivals in Europe and each edition attracts more than one million visitors. Over four months, Belgium and its neighboring regions will celebrate the diversity of Brazilian culture by hosting hundreds of breathtaking events.
