Friday Evening...

For cocktails: Le Roi d'Espagne, Grand'Place.
Restaurants in the city center near Grand'Place: La Taverne du Passage (1930s decor); La Roue D'Or (Art Nouveau decor); L'Ogenblik; Aux Armes de Brussels.
After dinner: Métropole Hôtel (posh); Beurschouwburg Café (trendy crowd and music); Zebra (young crowd, outdoor terrace). Beer fans: La Becasse; La Mort Subite (the Sudden Death); Le Pâthe Palace (trendy); Le Falstaff.
End the night with salsa dancing at Le Bazaar or Canoa Quebrada (downtown).

Saturday Morning...

Brunch at Le Pain Quotidien (Grand Sablon).
Stroll in the antique market area around the Sablon.
Window shop in the Boulevard de Waterloo and Avenue Louise (uptown).
Visit the Fine Art Museum (for Breugel, Bosch, Rubens) and the adjoining Modern Art Museum (for Magritte, Delvaux, Ensor, Wouters, Permeke and Alechinsky). Both museums are off the Place Royale. Visit the Brewery Museum on the Grand'Place.

Saturday Afternoon...

Lunch in Sablon area: Le Perroquet; le Vieux St. Martin; pastries at Wittamer or pralines at Marcolini.

For children: Mini-Europe at the Heysel; films at nearby Kinepolis or the Museum of Musical Instruments (MIM).
For adults: shop in the elegant Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert.
Also worth exploring is the Victor Horta Museum.
Buy souvenirs - chocolates, lace, beer and leather goods.

Saturday Evening...

Drinks; on the Place Du Châtelain in Ixelles.
Dine at La Quincaillerie
Or dine in the City Center: Bonsoir Clara; Comme Chez Soi (ultra-good, ultra-expensive); or late at La Grande Porte.
Entertainment: Concert at the Palais des Beaux-Arts or the Eglise Protestante (classical); Sounds Jazz Club (jazz) or the Music Village (jazz); film at the nostalgic Movy Club; the art-house Arenberg.

Sunday Morning...

Morning concert in the Bois de La Cambre or the Sablon's Eglise des Minimes.
Stroll the Flea Market (Place du Jeu de Balle in the Marolles).
Lunch at: Trente Rue de La Paille (up-scale) or at the Stekerlapatte
Or walk up Rue Royale for late lunch at De Ultieme Hallucinatie (Art Nouveau brasserie).

 

Sunday Afternoon...

Stop by the Royal Palace.
Sample ice cream at Chez Manneken, Rue au Beurre (nearby the Grand'Place).
Free afternoon jazz concert at L'Archiduc.
Catch what you missed on Friday and Saturday.

Sunday Evening...

Eat at the Armes de Bruxelles, 't Kelderke, Vincent; try our mussels or our famous "frites" (fries) sold on the street.

Museums and Attractions Passes:
The "Must of Brussels" is a booklet consisting of 9 vouchers.  It allows you to discover several Brussels attractions or museums.  This booklet offer up to 35% reduction on individual prices.
The "Brussels Card" gives free access to nearly all the Brussels museums and FREE Brussels (STIB) public transport for a period of 72hours. It is valid for three days and includes a chip card, a ticket for public transport and an illustrated guide.  It also allows for a 25% reduction in the well-known mussels restaurant "Chez Léon", when using the service of  the "Brussels Line", the blue double-decker buses that take you through the city, and on the entrance fee at the Museum of the Royal Toone Theatre.   The Brussels Card is available at tourist information counters, hotels, museums and agencies of the Brussels public transport.   The costs is 30 €.
The Mount of Arts on Sundays - Special pass: a special pass valid on Sundays that gives access to activities and the permanent collections in the museums and other cultural institutions on the Mount of Arts. A morning concert in the Centre for Fine Arts, a workshop for children, a visit to temporary exhibitions, etc.
Travel around with the "One-Day Travelcard". It allows you to travel anywhere by using the Brussels public transportation (metro, tram and  bus), as many times as you wish for the modest price of 3.80 Euro; on Saturdays, Sundays and Holiday Days the card is valid for two persons traveling together. Also available a card that offers unlimited 3 days travel within a period of 5 days for 9 Euro.  Available at STIB ticket counters and tourist offices in Brussels.
