Golf

Some of the best hidden escapes in Belgium can be found in its golf courses. It has some of the oldest courses in continental Europe. There are many fine ones in and around Brussels, the oldest of which, the Royal Golf Course of Belgium in Tervuren, was founded in 1906 by King Leopold II. Inquire in advance with the individual clubs in order to know their rules and regulations in regards to club cards and access.

Brussels

Bercuit Golf Club

Golf course (18 holes, par 72), designed in 1967 by the famous architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. For experienced players.

Bertransart Golf Club

An 18-hole course laid out in woodland with wide fairways but numerous bunkers which ensure a challenging game.

Brussels Golf Club

For beginners and experts. Practice containing 28 uncovered sites, 12 covered sites, approach greens, bunkers and a putting green.

Château de la Bawette Golf Club

High-quality international golf course on an estate, south of Brussels. "Les Champs" is an 18-holes course, par 72. Wooded valleys, plains, water hazards and streams succeed each other. "Le Parc" is a 9-hole course, par 33 and pleases a lot of beginners.

Chateau de la Tournette Golf Club

Golf Château de la Tournette is a golf complex, unique of its kind in Europe with its two 18 hole championship courses and a 9-hole beginner's course, in the heart of a naturally undulating countryside, full of bunkers and vast ponds.

Golf Club d' Hulencourt

The two golf courses have been designed by J.E. Rossi. 'Le Verger' has 9 holes, par 27, and is very technical. 'Le Vallon' is a magnificent course of 18 holes characterized by large and flat fairways, many bunkers and ponds, and impeccable greens. Next to the traditional driving range with 45 areas and bunkers for beginners, Hulencourt also has an indoor driving range with 8 driving maps.

Kampenhout Golf Club

The course, located on an estate is playable all year round. Lovely lakes protecting some of the greens bring variety into this especially pleasant arrangement.

La Bruyère Golf Club

Golf courses in the typical undulating landscape of Walloon-Brabant. The fairways are pretty large but don't offer a lot of protection against the wind. The top-quality greens are protected by strategic bunkers.

L'Empereur Golf Club

Just 20 minutes from Brussels and not far from Waterloo. Undulating landscape enhanced by wild preserved trees.

Golf Club de Louvain-La-Neuve

This international golf course is located in a wonderful wooded area. The club has a golf school with training facilities and 4 holes for beginners. The course is open and slightly undulating with bunkers and stretches of smooth water.

Pierpont Golf Club

The Pierpont Golf Club is found in an historic setting. The golf course (18 holes, par 72) is slightly undulating and very open. The difficulty of the course varies with the season and the wind.

Rigenée Golf Club

Wonderful fairways on a vast plain, embellished with lakes, bushes and groves.

Royal Amicale Anderlecht Golf Club

Close to the city of Brussels, you can play golf or train on a practice green during a business visit to Brussels. This pleasant and rather technical course requires precision play to avoid its many obstacles.

Royal Golf Club de Belgique

A wonderful golf course in an exceptional setting, amid an arboretum planted with rhododendrons. Superb slightly undulating fairways, magnificent and well defended greens. Members only on weekends.

Royal Waterloo Golf Club

This club, set up in 1923, belongs to the Wellington family. The club has two 18 holes golf courses and one 9 holes golf course, with greens and fairways of an outstanding quality. Members only on weekends.

Sept Fontaines Golf Club

3 golf courses in a wonderful beech wood, around the clubhouse that once was a château. Le Château : an 18 hole golf course, par 72; La Forêt : an 18 hole golf course, par 69; Le Parc : a 9 hole golf course.

 

Wallonia

Andenne Golf Club (Dinant)

Built on the side of a hill overlooking the Meuse valley and the small town of Andenne, this course is in a wonderful setting surrounded by woodlands. Its fairways are bordered with clusters of trees and it offers an enjoyable variety of play, thanks to a slightly undulating and inclined surface.

Durbuy Golf Club (Durbuy)

Golf course (18 holes) designed by architect Hawtree and located in a wonderful wooded and undulating area. A stylish golf course that will ravish every golfer.

Five Nations Country Club (Durbuy)

Wooded areas, valleys and streams have been used to create this course. The beauty of the course is enhanced by wonderful panoramic views. For experienced golfers.

International Gomze Golf Club (Liège)

The golf course (18 holes) par 72 is of international level.

Henri-Chapelle Golf Club (Liège)

It has 3 courses : 'Les Viviers' course, 18 holes; 'Le Charlemagne' course, 9 holes; 'La Chapelle' course.

Golf Club de Liege- Bernalmont (Liège)

Wonderful golf course (9 holes) 3 km from Liège. The last 3 holes are situated in the magnificent park of the Bernalmont château. For beginning and advanced golfers.

Golf Club de Mergelhof (Liège)

It offers a wonderful view on the surrounding forests and fields - especially in the summertime, when the fruit trees are in bloom. Whoever hits the ball over the boundaries at hole 6, has to recover it in Holland.

Royal Golf Club du Sart Tilman (Liège)

Well-kept golf course of the highest quality, located in a wonderful scenery near Liège. Designed by T. Simpson in 1938.

Enghien Golf des Sept Etoiles (Mons)

It offers a 9-hole par 36 golf course in an exceptional historic setting that was once the home of the Dukes of Arenberg. The course, which incorporates the unevenness of the terrain, makes for a highly diverse play.

Mont Garni Golf Club (Mons)

It offers a course of 18 holes on an estate. The golf course is very varied : the first 6 and the last 6 holes are located in the woods, the others in the fields.

Royal Golf Club du Hainaut (Mons)

This golf course (3x9 holes) was designed by architect Hawtree and is located in a wonderful wooded area.

Avernas Golf Club (Namur)

This club is located at a few kilometers of the E40, between Brussels and Liège. The course (9 holes) in English style was designed by architect Martin Hawtree.

Chateau Royal d'Ardenne (Namur)

Nestled in the Ardennes countryside, this is a club with royal history! The 18 holes lie in a part of the former park of Ardenne Castle, built by King Leopold II in the 19th century. The Royal Family used to enjoy playing golf here and several of its members were club champions. The technical course is composed of varied holes that offer beautiful views and absolute tranquility.

Falnuée Golf Club (Namur)

Golf pleasure, historic environment and natural beauty. Clubhouse located in the buildings of the Falnuée château (13th century). The golf course (18 holes) is a true challenge to every golf player. Wonderful and diversified landscape.

Florennes Avia Golf Club (Namur)

Diversified and technical golf course (9 holes) for beginners and experts. Located on the Florennes air base, between Dinant and Philippeville. Due to the particular location of the club it is subject to special rules and restrictions.

Rougemont Golf Club (Namur)

Exceptional golf course (18 holes). The undulating scenery offers a wonderful view of the valley of the Meuse. The course is very technical and requires high precision.

Royal Golf des Fagnes (Spa)

The present 18-hole course of the "Golf Club des Hautes Fagnes", designed by the famous architect Tom Simpson in 1928, is ranked among the 1000 best in mainland Europe. The superb setting of this beautifully designed and gently undulating course, which winds its way through the trees, relaxes and soothes both mind and body. This club has hosted the Belgian Open and other international competitions.
