Since 2003 Belgium has basked in the glory of having the world's top two women's tennis players: Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin. Except for the USA , no other country has managed to score this fame.

Justine has won the French Open in 2003, 2005 & 2006. She also won the US Open in 2003, the Australian Open in 2004 and the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Game in Athens.

In August 2003, Clijsters became the first Belgian to be ranked world's number one after beating Lindsay Davenport.,
